There are many Western North Carolina Attractions
that make for a fun, relaxing Vacation in NC

North Carolina, located among the Appalachian

small town charm. Downtown features many
specialty craft shops and unique restaurants.
The most famous shopping
destination in Watauga County has to be the Mast
General Store in Valle Crucis. This store has
been outfitting the High Country since 1883, and
the original building still stands!
West Jefferson NC, is located just a short drive
away in Ashe County and also has a wealth of fun
things to do and see. Known for its distinct
arts district and rural landscapes that offer
plenty of outdoor fun, Ashe County is a truly
spectacular place. One can take a tour of the
Ashe County Cheese Company, one of the region’s
oldest attractions, and watch cheese being made.
The Churches of the Frescoes in Ashe County are
also two great places to visit. Ben Long, an
internationally renowned painter, visited Ashe
County and painted several beautiful murals for
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Mary’s
Episcopal Church. Visitors from all across the
world visit Ashe County to see the churches and
their frescoe murals.
